BULA!!!

One of the friendliest places i’ve ever been, Fijians are just so lovely. Always greet you with a huge smile and ‘Bula!’ As soon as you arrive in the airport there’s traditional music and song. For sun and fun - head here!

Things to do

  1. Cloud 9 - A floating 2 storey bar in the middle of the ocean (see picture at the bottom). You can either get there by speedboat with some top tunes played by the DJ/Captain or you can get a sea plane if you have some serious dollar. We got the…speedboat 😂, but it was great fun! Then when you get there, there’s food, drinks, hammocks, a DJ and fun in the sun - a Pacific paradise!

  2. Go to the smaller islands - We jumped on a beautiful big old sail boat (see picture) and sailed out to a tiny paradise island that took 5 minutes to walk round (see top picture). There we played volleyball, had an authentic Fijian lunch and went snorkelling.

  3. Mud pool and Hot springs - Great fun! Get yourself a taxi driver for the day (very cheap, although ours drove like a wannabe Lewis Hamilton 😳) and pop to the gardens first, laze in the big hammock (picture bottom) and see the sights. Then head to the Mud and thermal pools. Cover yourself in mud then bathe in the naturally hot pools, and wooo some are hot! We finished with a Fijian massage, where a lovely lady broke every bone in my body 😂, it was brutal, but man was i relaxed after!

Fiji has so many things to do, especially if you are travelling about. The water and beaches are all like something on a travel brochure. The three things above were my favourite of what we were able to do. I think Denarau is a great base (see hotel below) from there you can check out the main island, water falls and of course fire dancing (see above) as well as heading out to all the other smaller islands. If you can, do the jet ski tour of the islands, not cheap but looked great!

Radisson Blu - Denarau Island

We stayed here and it was great! Superb food, rooms and amazing staff. Loads of things to do, provided by the hotel and also loads of excursions, a few you’ll have seen above. Great pools with…my fave…a pool bar! Massive water feature, palm trees and a private beach!

The fact that Denerau Island has quite a few hotels means it’s great for excursions and it’s also located not far from the airport.
