things to do
SEE THE MAIN SIGHTS - Eiffel Tower, The Louvre, Notre Dame, Arc de Triomphe - either by the tourist bus or just by hopping on the underground/metro (cheap). WEE TIP - I’d definitely head to the Eiffel Tower at sunset, looks amazing and then you get the sparkling lights on the hour for 5 minutes. Romance!
Cabaret - Paris is full of Cabaret, not all that cheap though. The most famous Moulin Rouge, you’ll pay over 100 euros for a ticket. But it is a one off experience in the Cabaret Capital of the world! You can find some great little Cabaret bars to go too though such as Aux Trois Mailletz (book for food) which are much cheaper and a great night!
Picturesque places to see - Montmartre, got to be done! Beautiful part of Paris, amazing views, lovely restaurants, cobble streets, little squares and street performers. Oh and get the funicular up the hill! Luxembourg Gardens, in the south is also very picturesque, grab a seat and sun bathe, play sports or just stroll round the beautiful gardens.
Petanque - Grab some French boules and a beer in the sun and play the classic french sport! (see picture). This is me playing by the Seine (near Hotel de Ville), the boules you get free with a beer. TIP - bring some euros, they only accept cash.
food & drink
Carette - Wee bit pricey for hot chocolate but great experience. Pot of beautiful hot chocolate, big dish of cream and a croissant. Chuck the cream in the chocolate then dip your croissant. YES! (see picture)
La Creme de Paris - GREAT crepe place for brekkie! Highly recommend. (see picture at bottom)
Bouillon Chartier - Part of the famous Parisian Bouillon chain. Big queues outside every lunch and dinner. The queues do go down quickly, the interior is quintessentially french, the prices are very cheap….BUT the food isn’t the best. (snails picture at bottom)
Le Pave - (see steak tartare picture at the bottom) Great french restaurant in Les Halles. Not expensive and really great food.
La Fontaine de Mars - Great restaurant, near the Eiffel Tower, you can’t see it, but if you want some great food at not a ridiculous price where you can stroll to the tower after, I recommend!
L’as du Fallafel - Get there early or not at peak times as like many popular Paris places there’s a queue. Well worth it though, absolutely cracking!
Chez Janou - Recommended by many people, couldn’t get a reservation, but looked great! So if you’re in Marais worth booking for some top notch french grub!
Fric Frac - Go here for your croque monsieur!
Marche des Enfants Rouge - Definitely recommend. Brilliant market with loads of superb food. Stroll around, see what tickles your fancy then get it in your belly!!
TIP FOR THE BEER DRINKERS! - It’s expensive! Plenty Happy Hour pubs in Les Halles, Marais and Bastille so head there from 3pm/4pm onwards 😊
BEST DRINKING AREAS - Halles, Marais and Bastille - Cheap and party street, Rue de Lappe. Cool, chilled street for evening drinks, Rue Montorgueil.
hotel
HOTEL DIVA OPERA was great, lovely hotel, great price, great central location. Definitely would recommend and it’s near the Crepe place for breakfast!!!
