things to do!

  1. Marble Mountains (see picture) - There’s me climbing into a cave! Really good fun, costs virtually nothing to do, burns off those Banh Mi’s and the cave and statues were fantastic (see pictures at the bottom). Well worth it, especially if you don’t get the best weather. OH! And book the trip yourself, much cheaper. Get a GRAB taxi there and back and tickets at the bottom of the mountain, VERY EASY.

  2. Bana Hills - The famous cable car to the mountain top where you’re greeted by a golden bridge, massive hands and….. an amusement park. I chose to do Marble Mountains over this, couple of reasons, the weather wasn’t great and also it cost a lot more. If its cloudy don’t do it, it is also often rammed with tourists. But if it’s sunny and you are willing to wait to get that Instagram picture then it could be for you. Me? Well i climb rock! Look at big cave!

  3. Dragon Bridge (see picture at top) - Go grab a beer and some food down at the waterfront and view the mighty dragon change colours. Also at 9pm on Saturday and Sunday at 9pm he gets a wee bit aggy, breathes fire and soaks people with water…

  4. Beaches galore! - Da Nang has one huge beach, but segments are named. My An and My Khe i checked out and have to say i preferred the My An vibe, really cool Beach bars and a wee bit cheaper than My Khe, lovely bubbly! Check the dog picture below, met that wee guy at My An beach at Maia beach bar! DISCLAIMER: I can’t guarantee the dog will be there when you go.

  5. Monkey Mountain - It’s a mountain with monkeys so if you like a view and a monkey, you should go! Grab a scooter and see the sights. Bit of hiking too though so no flippity flops, get the boots on! Oh and check out the massive Lady Buddha.

  6. EXCURSIONS - I didn’t have time, but My Son and Hue, a lot of people talk highly of to go for a day. Ye olde Vietnam, i believe, for the history buffs!

  7. HOI AN - This is a must. Check out my Hoi An page!

food & drink

  1. Moc Seafood - Superb seafood restaurant between My Khe beach and the dragon bridge. Definitely go! Really cheap and does amazing calamari, crab, lobster and oysters (see picture). BALDY REVIEW - Possibly the best restaurant of my trip, amazing service, great food and so cheap!

  2. Bikini Bottom Express - OK so…it was 9 days in and well…I WANTED A BURGER! I know not exactly trying the local cuisine, but christ! the smash burger at Bikini Bottom Express is a winner. Have an afternoon off from your cultural experiences and you won’t regret it.

  3. Section 30 - Really cool outdoor bar with games, pool, darts and more. Good music, cocktails and craft beer. For a chilled night of fun not far from the beach (and a lot cheaper than beach bars) it’s well worth it.

  4. The Craftsman Cocktail Bar - A hidden gem. I genuinely thought from outside we were at some dodgy run down bar that may have been closed. No-one around, but then the bouncer shows you through, the curtains open and you’re in some old school classic jazz, cocktail bar.

  5. Da Nang Night Market - If you really want to do the street food, hustle and bustle, then this is the place to check out and its right beside the Dragon Bridge.

  6. Bach Dang Street - Other side of the Dragon Bridge from the market is loads of pubs, night life and well the main party area!

  7. Beach Bars - Da Nang has loads of great little beach bars like Maia and Esco and various others, sadly we had mixed wether, but there was one we were going to check out had it been scorchioooo (this means rather hot). That was Nami, it looked like a lot of fun, but may be pricey…

my hotel

White Sand Boutique Hotel - Perfect location between the Dragon Bridge and My Khe Beach. We had one of the top floor rooms which was like an apartment for under £40 a night…oh and the picture is the view one way from our balcony, the other way was the sea…you can’t complain can you?!
