things to do

  1. The beach! - Just huge and brilliant. So much space so you’re never crowded. Little huts selling beers along the sea front are a lovely touch and numerous volleyball nets mean…it’s TOP GUN time! Lovely palm tree lined promenade, right along the front too, with bars and restaurants and not too expensive either!

  2. Old town (see pictures at bottom) - Narrow little streets, with loads of great bars, restaurants and clubs. Also check out the amazing old buildings and of course the Quart Towers, the huge fort like entrance to the old town. You can go inside and climb the stairs to the top via stunning archways (see picture at bottom) and see right over the city.

  3. The Futuristic Zone - Like nothing i’ve seen, a modern scientific and cultural complex, Valencia’s City of Arts and Sciences offers crazy architecture, Europe’s largest aquarium, a science museum, IMAX cinema, planetarium, and a purpose-built opera venue. Also you can jump in a wee boat and paddle round all the buildings! Oh and there’s also a late night club for those of you who want to PARTY!

food

Down by the beach La Divina Comedia was a great place to eat. Great tapas and paella and good value especially considering it was right down by the sea.

If you fancy a meat feast then I highly recommend El porteno not far from the old town. Meat heaven with amazing starters and puddings!

And of course do a wee tapas tour round the old town, loads of nice wee restaurants. Sit in the squares, enjoy a cerveza and some grub!

If you want to go fancy one evening and don’t mind sitting indoors, Michelin star restaurant Canalla Bistro isn’t too expensive and does an absolutely banging calamari!

my hotel

We stayed in a lovely wee boutique hotel with a rooftop pool with a bar (see picture of Aperol Spritz)! It also had a brilliant location being just a few minutes from the market and old town too, winner 😊! If you’re going for a weekend then definitely check out Vincci Mercat Hotel.
