things to do

  1. Go to Paradise - That’s right go and watch a Celtic game! Go to the Parkhead cauldron on a Saturday afternoon and soak up the atmosphere whilst watching the mighty hoops!

  2. Go see a show - Whether it be a play, stand up or music, Glasgow has it all. Billy Connolly and Kevin Bridges both come from Glasgow so why not check out the stand where the next top comedians are starting out. OR try a play at the world famous Oran Mor’s ‘A Play A Pie and A Pint’, new one act play every week at lunchtime with a pie and pint thrown in, WINNER! (also that’s me in the picture performing in one!) Finally catch a gig at the world famous Barrowlands which has launched the career of many scots artist and welcomed the likes of Bowie, Oasis and Justin Timberlake.

  3. Go for a tour of the Tennents brewery - I mean if you’re in Glasgow you may as well, drinking is our national sport! A wee tour ending with a pint of Scotland’s favourite lager! (See picture below)

  4. Day Trips - From Glasgow you can get to some stunning locations in Scotland. Fancy something more remote out the city then head to the stunning Loch Lomond (see picture at bottom) less than an hour by car. Stirling Castle isn’t far either and you can also get a photo at the real Wallace monument, no Mel Gibson here! It’s the real thing!

  5. Go to a Ceilidh - A ceilidh is scottish dancing. Proper old school, great fun and anyone can do it, as the band shouts out all the simple dance steps as you go along. Make sure and hold on to your lassie though as those dances get energetic and you could go flying across the dance floor!

Food & drink!

Glasgow is the party capital of Scotland so for fun nights out you are completely spoilt for choice…here’s some of the top areas for food, pubs and bars.

Ashton Lane - In the West End, cool little cobbled street with great bars and restaurants. Definitely go and check this out.

Byres Road - The main street beside Ashton Lane, loads of places to eat here too and nice bars and pubs too.

Merchant Square - Central area with some cool bars and restaurants. Some a little pricey, but its a fun area to do a wee bar crawl.

Bath Street - Loads of cool little bars below street level, if you’re a fan of a pub that plays live music into the wee hours, check out The Howling Wolf!

Sauchiehall Street - The main high street, with bars, clubs and plenty take away. My personal fave is some Blue lagoon fish and chips on the way home!

SOME SPECIFIC FOOD RECOMMENDATIONS…

Breakfast- Scran for some fancy brunch in the east end.

Dinner - Panang , Sugo are fun options, but if you want to go totally Scottish then.. Stravaigin - BRING ME THE HAGGIS!!!

hotel

Double Tree Hilton - Bang in the city centre, only a 1 minute walk from Sauchiehall street. Great location, not too expensive, nice wee gym and a pool so can’t complain. Did the job! Good bar with the footie on too 😊
